good genes

jeans: american eagle
I have a stack of jeans in my room that is commonly referred to as "the jeans pile". It's full of not-quite-high waists, steathily stitched holes in knees, and fake pockets. I'm basically always in pursuit of the perfect pair of jeans for my no-butt, extra long self. Many have tried, most end up in the jeans pile. As a girl who grew up believing in the magic of the traveling pants, I've basically been disappointed my entire youth. But American Eagle finally came through for me: I was just looking in the wrong decade.
THESE MOM JEANS ARE IT ON A STICK.
(Me, I am the stick.)
Real denim, deep pockets, and a waist that - wait for it - doesn't need a belt.
Just let that sink in.
No. Belt.
For those of you blessed with pants that stay on your body through the forces of gravity, let me jsut ut this in perspective: I have to wear a belt with skinny jeans. That is how bad the waist-gap is.
So lets just all take a moment and remember that
the 90's weren't all itchy body glitters.

over all overalls over all
overalls c/o dorothy & bubbles//shirt: asos// rings c.o stella and bow
Shoes? What shoes?
What a revelation: long overalls.
You'd have thought I'd have caught up to them before hand,
but alas, my heart is with my knees,
which demand to be seen.
They were perfect for adventuring in my backyard though.
We're lucky enough to have a completely mental yard
which includes everything from a chicken coop to a swingy hammock to a
gigantic kiwi plant that has yet to yield any actual kiwi.
Perfect place for pretending you can do yoga.

Justina

you wanna do something fun? you wanna go to in n out?//PROM 2014
dress: vintage//heels c.o. bc footwear//rings: c.o. stella and bow
ah, prom.
What a wonderful night.
You recreate Charlies Angels poses with all of your girlfriends.
(minus one, who is across a rather large pond)
You get to eat hamburgers + french fries,
and make faces out the drive thru window
at your favorite eating establishment.
You go watch a movie that involves Don Draper, India,
and a rather unlikely plotline.
You fit six people in a photo booth,
then decide polaroids are better anyways.
You discover that when it comes to air hockey,
your tiniest friend is much more ferocious than her size and demeanor had led you to believe.
You defend your title as reigning Dance Dance Revolution queen in very high heels.
..and you do it all in a dress you found stuffed on the back of the rack in your thrift store
that fit you perfectly from the very beginning.
Don't you?
xx,
Justina

roll bounce
photo taken with instax mini 8 by anouk
my rollerskates bring all the boys to the yard, and they're like, they're cuter than yours
Fun fact: I really love rollerskating.
I can't do it backwards,
or on one leg,
or even really at a fast pace,
but I do love it.
balance? what balance?
Moreso, I love the rink itself.
It's about a bajillion years old and
has this weird smell of leather and old popcorn,
this terrible eighties carpet that looks like it might have glowed at
some point but since has quite given up,
and disco balls that change color in the ceiling.
The whole thing comes together and
produces this very wes anderson x urban outfitters catalogue effect.
Don't even get me started on the people.
There's these five year olds who are always going in the wrong direction,
and ten year old girls who can do stuff on skates that would blow your mind.
Then theres the rollerderby girls with the multi-colored hair who show up around 9
and bring the entire Gwen Stefani catalogue with them.
I just think it's rad,
and love dragging my friends along to experience the radness,
so claps to Anna, Tara and Anouk for being down for intense leg pain.

Andddd then theres me with my bright pink laces and all the grace of a baby giraffe.
Wes would be proud.
