spooking season

overalls: modcloth

The only thing better than the start of spooking season? Blue corduroy overalls.

A slight breeze rustled through the evergreen trees in my suburb, and like that, it was fall. That's really the only indicator we get here. It was enough for me to reach for my brand new overalls from Modcloth and hit the old 'patch. When I was a kid, I used to ferret around for the biggest possible pumpkin my little stick arms could carry. Now, I just look for something cute and sufficiently spooky.

Speaking of childhood: corduroyyyyyy. These overalls are so satisfyingly textured. I'm constantly running my hands down them. Plus they're this deep navy blue color that makes them a bit fancier than my standard get-up. Even more enticingly, they just feel like fall. Or at least, what I imagine ~fall~ to feel like. They were part of my latest Modcloth raid - wait until y'all see the velvet dress.

We spent this evening wandering through one of the biggest corn mazes in California with a very confusing map, our suspiciously cheerful friends, and a rustling in the stalks that Jordan said was a mouse..

..but I'm pretty sure it was just a very small ghost.

ps. I need ideas for a Halloween costume!! Any suggestions?

many ways to fall

This is officially a FALL outfit. Just wanted to put that out there.

IT IS FINALLY RAINING HERE. WATER IS COMING FROM THE SKY.
Thank you for your prayers/rain dances/voodoo sacrifices.

You know when you order something, then while you're waiting for it you start to double think it? Like "hmm did I really like that color" or "am I even going to wear that"?? That was me with this cardigan. In the past, I haven't really been a "cardigan person", so I was skeptical.

Three words: it. has. pockets.

I'd have been sold on that alone, but now I've gotten rather attached to it's swinging coziness, and the color that is bright enough to not be schlub, but lowkey enough to match nearly everything. It's perfect for the so called "smart temperature control" at school. The "smart" part is that you have to be smart enough to be psychic and know that morning if the classroom is going to be freezing or the sixth circle of Dante's inferno.

Speaking of school: in these photos, my bag is full of my schoolbooks for ONE class. I have to carry that up and down four flights of stairs and it is literally backbreaking. If you don't believe me, you can talk to Charlie in 207, because he's in a body cast. FROM GERMAN HOMEWORK. Solid proof that school is a health hazard + a sturdy backpack is the only thing between you and imminent stair tripping.

I wear nothing but docs to school to minimize my injury potential. So far it's working out quite well except for the starbucks barista who thinks it's the height of comedy to call me "combat girl". Forget to put in my caramel and you'll see combat buddy.  I stopped wearing my burgundy ones for a while because it was summer and it felt weird, but now that we're pretending it's fall, it's okay again.

I'm not even going to talk about the stripy shirts
because I don't want to tip off my mum as to how many I own.

Justina is Rather Excited.

         Dress: c/o ManEater//Bag: c/o A'Muse Me Boutique//Necklace: c/o Eclectic Eccentricity
Shoes: Dr. Martens c/o MY REALLY BRILLIANT AMAZING FRIENDS WHO ARE PERFECT

I'm complete rubbish at holding up suspense.

DOC MARTENS.

I HAVE THEM.

THEY ARE MINE.

THEY ARE NOT PINK.

Simple truths.

I saw these in the shop, and we had one of those everyone-else-moves-in-slow-motion-while-music-plays-in-the-backround-moments.

It was beautiful.

It's such a lovely color, and we all know about my lace addiction. The shape is adorable, and it's swishy. You understand my feelings towards swishy dresses.
It's one of those lovely things that can be dressed up or down, Docs or heels.
I feel like we're going to have a lot of fun this holiday season, this dress and I.
The shop it came from is like wonderland.
21-st century, LA vibes wonderland.
My mum kept saying "You look like you're going to the opera."
Me: "In Docs?"
Mum: "You would."
Me: "You're actually probably right."

I'm feeling totally magical, because people keep saying "Oooh, what a lovely necklace." and I keep going "Thanks." *BOOM* it's a pocketwatch.
Epic.
and it has an owl on it, which makes it about 1000x better than it already was.
I really adore everything in this shop, their pieces are so full of whimsy and sparkle.

It's just so yellow.
It has loads of pockets, which I appreciate, because I have loads of stuff to put in them.
 Like little necklaces.
The boutique this purse came from I actually found when I was looking for vintage bags, and somehow ended up on the dark side of google, then came out into the light that was their website.
I had been looking for a satchel like this for ages, (remember la fall wishlist?) so you can imagine how excited I was when I found this one.
Really really excited.
They sell vintage inspired pieces, gorgeous jewellery, and all those other lovely things we hoard.
You'll be hearing more of them...

(more upcoming post suspense)
Also, I apologize about the tights, but I have these gorgeous soccer bruises up and down my legs roughly the same color as the dress.

 In conclusion:

Justina is rather excited about her new shoes.
and the color of this dress.
 and her magical pocketwatch.
and her yellow bag.

That is all.

xx,
Justina
